The Energy Equation
What if the key to what you seek is invisible to the eyes, but everyone around you can feel it?
Did you know that James Prescott Joule, the physicist whose name is now a unit of energy, once tried to prove that he could generate heat by stirring water with a paddle? His experiments laid the foundation for the first law of thermodynamics, showing that energy is never created nor destroyed, only transformed. This concept is just as relevant in leadership and relationships, where the energy you bring and absorb determines the momentum of your success.
Energy has been at the core of existence since the beginning of time. From the cosmic explosion of the Big Bang to the intricate dance of subatomic particles, energy is the unseen force that binds and shapes the universe.
A fascinating discovery in quantum physics reveals that everything, at its most fundamental level, is energy vibrating at different frequencies. This principle extends beyond the physical world into human interactions, where the alignment or misalignment of energy determines the strength of relationships. Just as constructive energy waves build power, relationships that align with your purpose amplify success and fulfillment.
Energy is the fundamental force that shapes our existence. Like waves, it flows, interacts, and influences everything in the universe. These waves, whether physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual, carry distinct frequencies, forming the energetic blueprint of our lives. The higher the frequency, the more refined and constructive the energy. The lower the frequency, the denser and more restrictive it becomes.
The people we engage with amplify our potential through constructive interference or drain us through destructive interference, just as the physics phenomenon. Understanding this principle empowers us to make deliberate choices that align with our highest aspirations. When two energy waves align, peaks meeting peaks and valleys meeting valleys amplify each other’s power, creating a force greater than the sum of its parts. This is constructive interference. In human relationships, it manifests as synergy, shared purpose, and exponential growth. Whether in business, leadership, or personal life, aligning with individuals who elevate your frequency fosters an environment of success and fulfillment.

When waves are out of sync, peaks meeting valleys cancel each other out, flattening the overall energy. This destructive interference drains potential, disrupts clarity, and hinders progress. Misaligned relationships, whether in professional settings or personal life, create unnecessary friction that saps energy and delays the realization of goals.

Ignoring energetic misalignment has consequences. When individuals resist their true path, the body often signals distress through illness, chronic pain, or mental exhaustion. The energy we absorb from others directly impacts our well-being. Staying in relationships that do not resonate with our purpose leads to internal disharmony.
An entrepreneur we coached faced a tough dilemma: despite being an exceptional professional, his COO was misaligned with the company’s purpose. The disconnect created friction, leading to poor execution and a noticeable dip in revenue. He knew replacing the COO was necessary, but he hesitated, fearing the challenge of finding the proper successor. As time passed, the company’s energy stagnated, and the cost of inaction became undeniable. Once he finally made the decision and brought in a leader who aligned with the company’s vision, momentum returned, and performance surged. Energy alignment is a business imperative.
“The lesson repeats itself until you learn it.” – Erika Twani
For leaders, energy is more than an abstract concept. It is a strategic advantage. Leadership demands clarity, resilience, and vision, all of which stem from the quality of one's energy. Surrounding oneself with individuals who contribute to constructive energy waves enhances decision-making, fosters innovation, and strengthens influence. Tolerating relationships that breed destructive interference results in confusion, stagnation, and diminished impact.
Leadership success, as well as in life, grows with energetic alignment. The world’s most effective leaders cultivate relationships that elevate their energy, ensuring their actions resonate with purpose and drive sustainable impact. This is the essence of the Mindset of Possibilities, where leaders recognize that reaching the next level requires more than knowledge or strategy. It demands that they raise their energy to match the level of success they seek. Only by embodying the energy of their next level can they attract the right people, opportunities, and breakthroughs necessary for growth.
What if you have no choice but to work with energy drainers? Sometimes, you have no choice but to relate to individuals who bring destructive energy. Avoiding them entirely is not always an option, whether it is a colleague, stakeholder, or team member. In these situations, the key is to establish strong, energetic boundaries. Limit unnecessary interactions, focus conversations on solutions rather than conflicts, and manage your emotional state to avoid being pulled into their low-frequency patterns. Redirecting energy in a positive direction and maintaining a mindset of possibilities will help you stay centered and protect your personal and professional growth.
Your body is more than a physical vessel. It is a dynamic container of waves, influencing and being influenced by the energy it absorbs. Just as a well-maintained home provides a foundation for growth, a well-balanced body supports high-frequency energy flow. Imagine your body as a house:
The ground floor (legs) represents foundational functions, including mobility, stability, and physical health.
The second floor (torso) is where you connect and engage with the world through communication, relationships, and leadership.
The third floor (mind and spirit) is your vision, strategy, and purpose space.
If the foundation is neglected, the basement is flooding, or the structure is unstable, your ability to operate effectively at higher levels is compromised. Leaders prioritizing their physical and mental well-being cultivate the clarity and strength necessary to fulfill their purpose.
The ancient wisdom “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” reminds us that our words and actions reflect our inner energy, the Acta Non-Verba. You elevate your energy by embracing the new emotion and then declaring your next level with your words. Leaders channel their energy into purposeful action to create impact, directing focus toward growth and transformation.
One of our clients aspired to become the CEO of her company. She had the credentials, the experience, and the drive, yet impostor syndrome held her back. Instead of focusing on external validation, we guided her through a transformative exercise: every morning, she meditated on the emotions she would feel as a CEO, such as confidence, clarity, and authority, until her mind and body accepted it as reality. In less than six months, she was promoted. Her energy had already arrived at the leadership level, and the opportunity followed.
Your energy dictates your influence. When you declare your purpose with unwavering conviction, your energy shifts to match that vision, and the world responds accordingly.
To master energy alignment, engage in a conscious assessment of the forces in your life:
1. Identify Constructive and Destructive Energy Sources
o List the people and situations that amplify your energy.
o Recognize those that deplete or misalign your frequency.
2. Clarify Your Focus
o Define what brings you closer to a state of joy and purpose.
o Outline the choices necessary to sustain high-frequency energy.
3. Seek Balance
o In moments of turbulence, identify strategies to recalibrate.
o Engage in practices such as meditation, exercise, deep breathing, or gratitude to raise your energy and stay in control of your frequency.
4. Burn the Unnecessary
o Write down elements of destructive interference in your life.
o Set an intention to release them, literally or symbolically, by burning the list.
What if achieving extraordinary success depends on raising your energy to inspire and elevate those around you?
